Homero Gonzalez – Pioneers of the Cuban Salsa in UK

Homero GonzalezHomero Gonzalez is one of the pioneers of the salsa in UK, He began teaching his own cultural interpretations and styles of salsa in London. Along with other Cuban, Colombians & UK based teachers, He is largely responsible for popularising the music and dance in the UK in the past decade and creating the huge nationwide interest in salsa. From his influence new salsa ‘stars’ and competition winners emerged, bringing a host of new styles and a demand for salsa teaching and dance nights across the UK.

Homero currently teaches Afro Cuban, Rumba, Cuban Popular and Salsa Classes various venues in and around London and the South East. He also organises dance workshops all over the UK and in Europe. Classes, workshops and shows have been held in Spain, Italy and Norway in addition to the UK, including the Royal Festival Hall and the Barbican.

Homero is also the Artistic Director and choreographer of Salsa Cubana Cabaret a Latin dance cabaret show. They are a Cuban style cabaret group, combining dances using all the Cuban Rhythms of Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, Son, Rumba, Salsa, Bolero and Rumba with modern interpretations of African beats.Homero’s most recent television projects have been to film four short dance programmes for the BBC, teaching Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Merengue and Mambo.
