The night is being staged by one of our favourite promoters, Carlton who also used to run the successful monthly Cuban Vibes Hotel Salsa Party to name but a few, so this should be a really original and happening Cuban night. Another bonus is a fusion of live music featured artist Rene Alvarez Portuondo y Cuban Combination and hosted by Philips Man.

An authentic Cuban party night where you can dance the night away to top DJs playing the cream of Cuban salsa, timba, son & reggaeton and listen to some of the best of Cuba’s UK based musicians playing live.

Now in its fourth year the party this month features a mini Key2Cuba video festival with screenings of Alexander Abreu & Havana D’Primera’s La Fin de La Vida; Bamboleo’s La Que Manda (Mujeres) and Los Van Van’s Me Mantengo which has been nominated for Music Video of The Year in the Lukas Awards. The Havana D’Primera video premiered to a capacity crowd at Baila Londres on Saturday 28th. If you missed it come down on Thursday 9th and see it on the big screen!

The Rumbon always features a dance class and this month the acclaimed Kerry Ribchester of Key2Cuba (and director of the videos) will be teaching one of her unique Cuban salsa dance classes. This fully qualified Hellerwork practitioner and choreographer will be sure to show you some juicy body movements to add spice and flavour to your salsa.

DJ Flecha, who had a residency at the famous Casa de la Musica in Havana Cuba, will be on the decks playing an assortment of the best Cuban music including salsa, timba, and reggaeton. In addition Rumbon regular, DJ Javier will be spinning his choice of the latest Cuban tunes, fresh from the streets of Havana.

Together, they’ll be sure to get the party rocking at this long- running night.

The first time in London for seven years for the mighty Afro Cuban All Stars and their leader Juan de Marcos Gonzalez. Juan de Marcos has been a key figure in Cuban music for the last twenty five years first as a founder of Sierra Maestra and then in bringing together the artists who became Buena Vista Social Club and latterly introducing a raft of new Cuban artists as a label boss and impresario. Dubbed “The Quincy Jones of Havana” this is a rare, rare visit for his big band the Afro-Cuban All Stars presenting the past, present and future of the Cuban sound.

Born out of the late-1990s Buena Vista Social Club recording sessions, this mighty big band is devoted to the full range of Cuban music. Led by Juan de Marcos González (formerly of Sierra Maestra), the 15-piece ensemble spans generations and musical styles from rumba to son montuno to bolero.

As the gifted visionary behind the Buena Vista Social Club, the 12-piece ensemble includes the best of three generations of outstanding Cuban musicians and singers. The greatest Cuban dance band in the world today, Los Van Van, land in Leeds for the first time direct from Havana on Friday 2nd March 2012.

Cuba’s biggest, funkiest dance orchestra returns direct from Havana to the O2 Academy Leeds following 2010 storming show in London. Los Van Van will be supported and followed by sets the finest Cuban music djs playing for the dancers.

Formed in 1969 in Havana, Cuba, this 20-piece orchestra plays an irresistible brand of dance groove they created called ‘songo’ – a solid and invigorating fusion of rich Caribbean rhythms, Afro-Cuban drumming, salsa & rock/pop elements. This new sound became the rage of Havana and one of the most influential Cuban rhythms since the cha-cha-cha.

Featuring a fearsome collection of virtuoso musicians, their live shows are all about the relationship between the band and the dance-floor, with call-and-response Afro-Cuban conga, sharp horns and violin riffs, vocal improvisations drifting in and out between this solid groove. Grammy award winner, Cuban orchestra Los Van Van, released today its latest disc, “La maquinaria” (The machinery), produced by the EGREM label at the Abdala Studios.

Juan Formell, Van Van director, who made the launching at the Havana Libre Tryp Hotel in this city, said this work was mainly devoted to dancers, with great voice work and arrangements.

“I took the opportunity of this disc to make kind of a retrospective of the 42 year long Van Van work to try to recover the original sonority” said Formell.

“La Maquinaria,” which gathers together versions of memorable numbers by the popular dance band, the Latin American Herald Tribune reports.

This latest work differs from the previous (Arrasando) because includes new sounds and arrangements to songs that topped the charts in the 80s and 90′s.

It includes songs like “Recibeme” and “Eso que anda” that were #1 and have a great chance of becoming it again within this new work, according to Formell, who plays the bass and composes songs.

The cover was designed by Erick Silva and Alberto Medina, and features the work of Cuban painter Alexis Leyva, Kcho. The disc gets its name from its first song that will promoted in a video clip by Ian Padron, renowned moviemaker, who directed the film “Habanastation”.

Los Van Van, who have spurred several generations of Cubans to get up and dance, have won one Grammy and had dozens of hits that are considered to be chronicles of the daily life on the communist island over the past several decades.

Different than other artists that emigrated to the U.S. Isaac Delgado has preserved the quality, creativity and the same success that he enjoyed while he lived in Cuba. Now he releases a new album – SuperCubano which hosted artists such as La India, Gente de Zona and – Manolin el medico de la salsa.

No long after his previous “jazz” production (Love) Issac Delgado comes back to his main genre, Melodic Salsa and Cuban Timba, with a new CD highly recommended by us “Supercubano”, this album is considered by many experts as Issac best album. The sound is a mix of Puertorican salsa and cuban timba, conga, rumba e cubatón. Duets with the superstars El Micha, Gente De Zona and La India. A massive appeal for dancers of all backgrounds! – A CD that you can’t absolutely miss!

Issac Delgado is one of Cuba’s biggest salsa stars. Delgado’s father was a tailor and his mother an actress and singer. He began studying the cello at the age of 10, but gave it up to join the Escuela de Iniciación Deportiva to focus on another great passion of his, soccer.

When starting out his studies at the university to obtain a degree in Sports Science, he was called upon by virtuoso pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba to join a band called “Proyecto”, which was known for their modernization of popular Cuban music. This became the starting point of Delgado’s musical career path, upon which he decided to study vocal techniques with Mariana de Gonich and signed up for the Ignacio Cervantes Music School. He began his professional career in 1983 as a member of the Pacho Alonso Orquestra, with which he toured the world. In 1988 he joined NG La Banda as the lead singer, and at the same time started working on his solo career, forming his own band in 1991, which is successful to this day.

In 2006, Delgado defects to US crossing the Mexico-U.S. border to Laredo, TX with members of his family and currently lives in Tampa.
