Multi-award winning and Grammy nominated Puerto Rican singer songwriter José Feliciano makes his come back to UK to perform three days at one of London’s most iconic venues in London, Jazz Cafe in Camden.

José Feliciano also know as eThe Godfather of Latin music, a legendary icon –  the number one Latin international-crossover star, has been awarded over forty-five Gold and Platinum records, has won seventeen Grammy Nominations and eight Grammy Awards and is in receipt of many other prestigious awards the world over.

Three years after their first concert in London as part of Colombiage 2008, COMO NO in association with Colombiage as part of BLAZE 2011 are delighted to announce Bomba Estéreo live in London.

Bomba Estéreo formed in 2005 as a project by visual artist/musician, Simón Mejía.

Originally called A.M. 770, the loosely formed collective of DJs and visual artists included DJ Fresh, Diego Cadavid, Javier Fonseca of Alerta, and was led by Mejia, who renamed the group Bomba Estéreo in 2006 and released debut album, Vol. 1.

Entrecasa, Colombeat, a label project by Héctor Buitrago and Andrea Echeverri of Aterciopelados, gave Mejía an opportunity to participate in their first compilation project focused on exposing new Colombian talent in the world of electronic music; releasing the track ¨Ritmika,¨ a cover song from a classic Venezueluelan orchestra, Los Blanco.

On Vol. 1, Mejía met Liliana “Li” Saumet, former singer of Mister Gomes in Bombay.  She sang over the track, ¨Huepaje,¨ marking the official collaboration between Liliana and Simon as Bomba Estéreo.

After Vol. 1, Mejía traveled to New York City for the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), where he was able to secure digital distribution through US-label, Nacional Records.  Upon returning to Bogotá, Felipe Alvarez from Polen Records met the group and began releasing Bomba Estéreo in Colombia.

The stage was set for the release of the band’s second album, “Estalla” (“Blow Up” in the USA), released in Colombia in September 2008 and presented live with Kike Egurrola on drums, Julián Salazar on guitar, Li as singer and Simón as bass/programming/band director.

Nacional Records (Manu Chao, Nortec Collective, Zizek, Aterciopelados) released “Blow Up” in the US in July 2009 to rave reviews from top publications, taking the group around the world towards international recognition.  That summer, the band played New York City’s Bowery Ballroom and Central Park Summerstage, with the New York Times calling the performance, “kaleidoscopic and danceable.”  More recently, the band collaborated with Levi’s jeans for their ‘Pioneer Sessions’ program, with the band covering Technotronic’s ‘Pump up the Jam.’  MTV also named the band, ‘The Best New Band in the World.’ 

Currently, Bomba Estéreo continues to tour the world in support of “Estalla”/”Blow Up” while preparing new material for their third album, set to be released in 2011.

Multi-award winning and Grammy nominated Colombian singer songwriter Andres Cepeda makes his debut UK show at one of London’s most intimate venues, Union Chapel in Islington.

Andrés Cepeda is one of Colombia’s most talented artists whose popularity has been recognized across Latin America, USA and Spain, where he won the prestigious 40 Principales award for ‘Best Male Pop Artist’.

He started his career as a member of Bogota’s rock band Poligamia, recording 4 albums over a successful 8-year career, but despite the tremendous success of the band, Andres Cepeda decided to follow on a solo career releasing the album ‘Se Morir’ which sold over 100.000 copies in Colombia alone, the success of his debut solo album set Cepeda on a new direction and sound, performing classic Latin rhythms such a bolero, mixing it with Cuban influences and contemporary pop rock arrangements, and presenting it in various formats such as rock with his band, classical with the Colombian Philharmonic Orchestra, jazz with Horacio ‘El Negro’ Hernandez, and acoustic or acapella. 

Andres Cepeda’s contemporary vision made him and instant success and this enabled him to work with some of Colombia’s finest artist including Fonseca and Cabas, tour internationally throughout Latin America, Spain, Europe, Canada, Brazil and the USA and further releasing 5 more albums.

Andres Cepeda’s latest album ‘Dia tras Dia’ (Day after Day) reached the No1 position in Colombia within a few weeks of being released, and became his most successful to date, nominated for 3 Latin Grammy Awards in the categories of ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Best Male Pop Album’ and winner of 5 awards at Colombia’s Premios Nuestra Tierra including ‘Best Artist of the Year’.

In 2010 he started touring ‘Dia tras Dia’ with over 40 concerts across Latin America and the USA, and this year he returns to Europe for an extended tour when he makes his debut UK show at London’s Union Chapel on Friday 27th May.

Following a series of hugely successful performances in recent years, where they played with to a full house, the twelve-piece Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club® which features a number of Buena Vista Social Club alumni make their eagerly awaited return to Europe. 

This Cuban musicians’ collective has played together for over half a century. Stylistically, they span the entire spectrum of Afro-Cuban music. Deliciously slow bolero ballads and majestic danzones feature the swell of strings, while background vocals conveying messages of romance hide behind arrestingly beautiful melodies.

Buena Vista Social Club’s most influential style is the exuberant, polyrhythmic music known as son, which gave birth to both Mambo and Salsa. These upbeat numbers are full of infectious guitar licks, multilayered Afro-Cuban rhythms, soaring vocal melodies, and brash, Big Band-style horn parts.

Joining this new and expanded lineup of Cuban players is vocalist Omara Portuondo, a member of the original Buena Vista Social Club, whose 2008 recording Gracias (World Village / Montuno) won a Latin Grammy and scored a Grammy nomination and the pianist Chucho Valdés, the most celebrated Cuban jazz pianist today. Both of these artistic legends enjoy triumphant careers and are two of the finest ambassadors for Cuban culture around the world.

His music was susceptible to bombast: a typical track is about 15 minutes long; some are double that. Here, though, the accent is on the tunes’ effervescence more than their meandering complexity, and a superb 12-piece band delivers stylish arrangements by Jordan McLean and Aaron Johnson.

FELA! tells the true history of the legendary Fela Kuti, whose soulful and stirring afrobeat Rhythms ignited a generation.

Inspired by his mother, a civil right champion, he defied a corrupt and oppressive military government and devoted his life to music to struggle for freedom and human dignity.

His huge compound in the Lagos suburbs was a sanctuary for Nigerian society’s outsiders. His Pan-African philosophy enraged the authorities; just as provocative was his decision to marry 27 women in one go or make statements were he condemned the use of condoms as un-African.

Looking to spread the love this Easter and doing what they do best, – provide the soundtrack to urban Latin London life, La Bomba is back again!.
Following a capacity Xmas party at Ministry of Sound, La Bomba relocates to Pacha in Victoria for a Bank Holiday party on Sunday 4th April, showcasing the best in reggaeton, Latin house and urban dance sounds with guest DJ’s Juan Cuba backed up London’s elite urban Latin DJ squad.
Juan Cuba is 23 y.o. European-based Cuban DJ/promoter who’s DJ’d for Tito El Bambino, Alberto Style, Notch & Kat De Luna and organised European tours for big reggaeton artists, Nicky Jam, Don Chezina, Sir Speedy & DJ Blass. He is widely regarded as one of the best urban Latin DJ in mainland Europe.
