His DJ career has sky rocketed to include having DJ’ing in some of the biggest-salsa parties and most popular in United Kingdom, He is a well known face of various congresses across UK, and his music compilation CDs are always in demand in the timba scene.

DJ Green Papi’s style varies from Cuban Timba to Reggaeton and Puerto Rican Salsa, but he is equally comfortable playing other genres. His signature is his amazing ability to read the crowd, knowing when to play the right salsa grooves and when to switch it up to other genres to keep the crowd pleased and entertained.

The night is being staged by one of our favourite promoters, Carlton who also used to run the successful monthly Cuban Vibes Hotel Salsa Party to name but a few, so this should be a really original and happening Cuban night. Another bonus is a fusion of live music featured artist Rene Alvarez Portuondo y Cuban Combination and hosted by Philips Man.

An authentic Cuban party night where you can dance the night away to top DJs playing the cream of Cuban salsa, timba, son & reggaeton and listen to some of the best of Cuba’s UK based musicians playing live.

Now in its fourth year the party this month features a mini Key2Cuba video festival with screenings of Alexander Abreu & Havana D’Primera’s La Fin de La Vida; Bamboleo’s La Que Manda (Mujeres) and Los Van Van’s Me Mantengo which has been nominated for Music Video of The Year in the Lukas Awards. The Havana D’Primera video premiered to a capacity crowd at Baila Londres on Saturday 28th. If you missed it come down on Thursday 9th and see it on the big screen!

The Rumbon always features a dance class and this month the acclaimed Kerry Ribchester of Key2Cuba (and director of the videos) will be teaching one of her unique Cuban salsa dance classes. This fully qualified Hellerwork practitioner and choreographer will be sure to show you some juicy body movements to add spice and flavour to your salsa.

DJ Flecha, who had a residency at the famous Casa de la Musica in Havana Cuba, will be on the decks playing an assortment of the best Cuban music including salsa, timba, and reggaeton. In addition Rumbon regular, DJ Javier will be spinning his choice of the latest Cuban tunes, fresh from the streets of Havana.

Together, they’ll be sure to get the party rocking at this long- running night.

Directly from Havana, known to Cubans as “EL TREN de la SALSA” and to the rest of the world as the “The Rolling Stones of Cuba” …the incomparable Latin Grammy winners Los Van Van return to London after one year absence.

The greatest Cuban dance band in the world today, Los Van Van, land back in London on Thursday 1st March 2012. 
With a career spanning 43 years, no wonder they are nicknamed “the Rolling Stones of Cuban music” Still led by original founder member and bassist Juan Formell, since 1969 they have produced some of the most influential Latin music of all time, often introducing new rhythms and styles that have set dance floors on fire across the world! 

Having won a Latin Grammy award for the album “Van Van is Here” (Llegó Van Van) in 2000, Los Van Van are no strangers to playing crowds in their tens of thousands, especially across Latin America where they headline stadiums! 

Los Van Van will arrive with new vocalist Mandy Cantero to replace Mayito Rivera, who left the band in September to focus on his solo career. Armando “Mandy” Cantero is one of the shinning stars that have been part of ensembles such as Pupy y los que Son Son or Charanga Forever. The greatest Cuban dance band in the world today, Los Van Van, land in Leeds for the first time direct from Havana on Friday 2nd March 2012.

Cuba’s biggest, funkiest dance orchestra returns direct from Havana to the O2 Academy Leeds following 2010 storming show in London. Los Van Van will be supported and followed by sets the finest Cuban music djs playing for the dancers.

Formed in 1969 in Havana, Cuba, this 20-piece orchestra plays an irresistible brand of dance groove they created called ‘songo’ – a solid and invigorating fusion of rich Caribbean rhythms, Afro-Cuban drumming, salsa & rock/pop elements. This new sound became the rage of Havana and one of the most influential Cuban rhythms since the cha-cha-cha.

Featuring a fearsome collection of virtuoso musicians, their live shows are all about the relationship between the band and the dance-floor, with call-and-response Afro-Cuban conga, sharp horns and violin riffs, vocal improvisations drifting in and out between this solid groove. A dance groove that has made generations of people dance to their unmistakable dance beat. If George Clinton was Cuban then Los Van Van would be his band.

Cuba is a powerhouse in the development of popular music, and Los Van Van, the world’s premier Latin dance band, continues to rock the Cuban soul and ram dance-floors worldwide.
